1862 Dry Bar
Madrid, Spain
The fact that 1862 gets its name from the year of publication of the first ever cocktail book, written by the famous Jerry Thomas, tells you much of what you need to know about this bar. Owner Alberto Martínez puts the cocktails first, utilising the bar's large collection of spirits to create signature drinks such as the ‘Cantaloupe Gibson’, with pisco, cantaloupe, manzanilla sherry, grapefruit bitters and rose water. There's a subtle speakeasy feel to the place, with a minimalist approach to decor and an intimate downstairs area.
