Cracco
Milan, Italy
Located in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II – a glass-roofed shopping centre dating back to 1877 – Cracco’s interiors are gloriously decadent, with hand-painted wall paper, mosaic tiles and antique mirrors. Carlo Cracco, who trained under Alain Ducasse and Milan’s Gualtiero Marchesi, serves Milanese food with a modern spin. Think raw veal with a twist of lemon peel, a riff on the traditional cutlet, crème brulée with seasonal Italian olive oil and electric-yellow spaghetti made from egg yolks. The site also includes a bakery, bar and wine cellar containing 10,000 bottles of mostly Italian and French wines.
