This Cape Town bar aims to tell local stories through the medium of cocktails, with each drink on the menu based on a different fable. The cocktail list is a wonderful journey through history and fantasy alike, with each drink tying the story together. Take the Watcher of the South, for example, about earth warrior Umlindi Wemingizimu, represented by Scotch single malt, vanilla, citrus, aromatic bitters and spiced pumpkin. All of the cocktails are inventively presented and highly photogenic, such as The Flying Dutchman in its spray paint can, and illustrations for each feature both in the menu and as murals in the bar. There’s an indulgent food menu to pair with the striking, well-executed cocktails, featuring a bourbon old fashioned grilled cheese and chicken wings with sticky sake glaze.
