Matt Abergel (of Hong Kong’s popular Yardbird) opened this Japanese izakaya-style dining bar in 2013. The space, dressed predominantly in keyaki wood, has only 14 seats so reservations are a must; although, wall counters are available for walk-ins. Seafood is prepared with Japanese flavours and techniques, with ingredients changing seasonally. Signatures include crab shells piled with crab meat, mitsuba (an Asian parsley) and fresh sea urchin, and smoky seared eel and sushi rice. There are more than 100 Japanese whiskies, umeshu (a fruit liqueur), shochu and sake, plus craft beer, wine and cocktails put together by beverage director Elliot Faber.
