Sushi Kyubey

Tokyo, Japan

A Tokyo institution, founded in 1935 by the godfather of modern sushi Hisaji Imada, and now run by his son Yosuke. Don't expect the calm quiet of other high-end sushi joints; Kyubey is larger than most (so it's not always necessary to book) and has a boisterous atmosphere. Instead, expect sushi to die for, with all you can eat wakame and daikon (seaweed and radish) on the side and cool lager to wash it all down. Highlights include chutoro (medium fatty tuna), aori ika (big-fin reef squid) and akami zuke (soy marinated bluefin tuna) on well-seasoned rice. Delicious.
