La Tuerta Funky Castizo aims to push the boundaries of both food and cocktails, while not losing sight of tradition. First opening its doors in the middle of 2019, this Madrid spot has made a name for itself with its new takes on Spanish food, as well as its cutting-edge cocktails. Victor Pinacho Matute’s dishes take their inspiration from traditional Spanish cuisine, while Eme Otero’s cocktails are minimalist and forward thinking, drawing on the latest trends and techniques. The cocktail list is divided by base spirit. Té Negro, for example, from the rum section, incorporates a coffee-infused rum, red vermouth and black tea, beautifully presented in a tumbler over a single block of ice. The feel of the bar is in keeping with the bar’s attitude to food and drink – cool and modern, with red neon contrasting with exposed brickwork.
