Regarded by many as the best (and most expensive) Japanese restaurant in New York, Masa is a classic sushi counter and dining room run by chef Masayoshi ‘Masa’ Takayama on the fourth floor of the upscale Time Warner Center. A feast for a special occasion, the extensive tasting menu runs through caviar-topped toro tartare, kegani crab, geoduck nigiri and matcha mille-feuille. Every ingredient is treated with the utmost respect and traditional technique. Accordingly, no photographs are allowed, better to appreciate the exquisite food, and tips, in keeping with Japanese hospitality, are not accepted.
