The team at this discreet restaurant – which is tucked away behind creaking wooden doors – believe that food is living history and deserves to be treated as such. They’ve scoured the country many times over for authentic recipes from village elders, as well as spending hours in royal libraries seeking the flavours that tempted the kings of the past, collecting them in extensive à la carte menus. Green curry, massaman curry, Chinese long beans and sweet and sour coconut dip – all the classics are represented with real panache and there are some rarer finds too, including kaeng ranjuan (a hot, spicy soup). The Thai-focused cocktail list is equally exciting, with a memorable signature serve of Mekhong Thai spirit, jasmine syrup, dragon fruit and egg white.
