The Loft

The Loft has cherry-picked all the glamour and heritage of New York’s Waldorf Astoria, transported it to the 56th floor of a Bangkok skyscraper and added its own flurry of new-wave Asian bar magic. Design wise, a bronze spiral staircase sets the tone, here, art deco meets art nouveau with sophisticated nuance at every turn and striking city vistas a given. Italian bartender Michele Montauti is in charge of the drinks, taking as inspiration the original Waldorf cocktail book from 1935. Expect punchy picks (see the Astoria or Bronx) and inspired use of Thailand’s natural larder across the likes of The Stranger, with Phuket rum or a Clever Hippie with vodka and Thai basil. A space to fall in love, whether flying solo perched at the mirror-dressed bar, with friends over oysters on the Pollock-splashed communal table, or raising a toast to something in one of the semi-private booths.
