Official Sustainability Audit Partner
The Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) works to accelerate change towards an environmentally restorative and socially progressive hospitality sector.
Since 2013, the SRA has been the Sustainability Audit Partner for 50 Best, using their industry-recognised sustainability assessment tool to judge the winner of the Sustainable Restaurant and Sustainable Bar awards.
The SRA defines restaurants’ sustainability using its holistic ten-pronged framework and assesses their performance across three core areas: Sourcing, Society and Environment.
Sourcing: recognises restaurants celebrating provenance; sourcing fish responsibly; serving more plants and better meat; and supporting farmers and fishers
Society: focuses on restaurants treating staff well; using their influence at the top end of the industry to promote sustainable dining; and supporting their local communities
Environment: recognises restaurants that are working to reduce their footprint; from energy, water and carbon to packaging and single-use; and minimising food waste
All restaurants from the 50 Best and 51-100 list are eligible to apply for the award. The winner is the restaurant that best demonstrates that it is doing good as well as serving incredible food.
