The Bar Kakure

Upstairs at acclaimed sushi restaurant Ki-Sho you'll find Kakure, an homage to Japan's cocktail bar culture. The bar is reservations only (we mean it, you need a code to get in) and once you enter there's a touch of Kyoto about the space, all exposed wood and wraparound windows looking put over the treetops. The cocktail list is overseen by the masterful Kazuhiro Chii, who has created a selection of original and classic drinks for the menu, fortified with infused spirits, from gummy bear vodka to wasabi gin. House cocktails include the Wa Mojito which combines ume-shu, lime, yuzu syrup ginger ale and shiso leaves plus a choice of Tokyo-style fresh fruit cocktails which are available depending on seasonality. As you'd expect from the neighbours downstairs bar snacks are not to be missed, with favourites such as Bafun Uni (green sea urchin) tempura and truffled chawanmushi (egg custard).
