A global name: Over the years, the Zuma brand has become synonymous with Japanese izakaya and its flagship restaurant in Dubai has certainly made waves. While relatively newer, Zuma Abu Dhabi is a force to be reckoned with in the UAE capital.
What’s the experience? Entering Zuma Abu Dhabi on Al Maryah Island is something of an adventure in itself. It looks no more than a small room from the outside, but after descending a staircase, diners enter the cavernous floor that houses the restaurant. Having gone down a few levels, it’s no surprise that the restaurant’s views onto the water surrounding the island are stunning. With tables right next to the floor-to-ceiling windows prime property, diners feel like they’re on the edge of the Arabian Gulf.
What should I order? There are plenty of standout options on the menu, including the signature barley miso corn-fed baby chicken, which is oven roasted on cedar wood. You also can’t go wrong with the miso-marinated black cod wrapped in hoba leaf –there’s a reason it’s a favourite. Ultimately, whether you pick something from the raw menu or robata kitchen, it’s guaranteed to please.
Brunch and lunch: Catering to the financial district it’s located in, Zuma Abu Dhabi offers a value-for-money business lunch menu, as well as a brunch menu for the weekends.
